Things to Do

Anglesey has so much to offer for everyone. See - visitanglesey.co.uk for lots of ideas.

If you are wanting peace and tranquillity or excitement and adventure there are beautiful places to visit and thrills to be had.

The nearby beaches in Cemaes are perfect for all water-sports especially swimming and kayaking. The Cemaes Bay Swimmers welcome visitors and have a Facebook page letting you know times they are swimming and where from.

The walking is wonderful - the 130 mile Anglesey Coastal Path around the whole of the island passes through different landscapes, cliffs, beaches, salt marshes and small areas of woodland nearly all of which are AONB. The different habitats mean wildlife, birds and flowers flourish. Inland you can walk in reserves like The Dingle, LLangefni, where you can often see Red Squirrels, or the unusual mine workings of Parys Mountain , Amlwch.

GeoMon is a Unesco global geopark containing some of the oldest fossils in Britain. Various stones found on the Island are displayed on Penrhyn headland Cemaes.

History is all around, Beaumaris Castle, prehistoric monuments, such as Din Lligwy or Ty Mawr Hut Circles at South Stack. Also National Trust properties and gardens such as Plas Cadnant Hidden Garden as well as lighthouses and churches.

Cycle routes criss-cross the island and there are picturesque golf courses- the nearest one to the cottage is in Bull Bay which has sea views.

There are some great restaurants and pubs for eating out on the Island. Gwesty Gadlys in Cemaes Bay has amazing views. The Harbour and The Stag Inn serve food and sometimes have live music or quiz nights. There are cafes in the village an ice cream parlour and Llefrith Nant Dairy -a milkshake cabin on the outskirts of the village as well as the seasonal beach hut that sells wood fired pizzas.

Boat trips for fishing and sightseeing can be taken on Stingray from the Harbour, however if speed and excitement are for you then try Rib Ride on the Menai straight. Surfing, coasteering, horse riding, sailing and rock climbing are all available on the Island and Trac Mon - Anglesey Circuit has various races throughout the year.

When it is raining there are galleries or museums, for example Oriel Mon, LLangefni or the Maritime Museum in Holyhead. There is a cinema in Holyhead and leisure centre at Amlwch. Another place nearby to visit is the now working windmill Melin Llynon that sells wonderful Monuts!

Whatever you choose to do we hope you feel refreshed and relaxed and have fun.
